Accessory Dwelling Units

Accessory Dwelling Units

The City of Greenfield is exploring the opportunity to formally allow accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and enable property owners to build them. An accessory dwelling unit is a small secondary dwelling that can be either within or attached to your primary home or a detached structure on your property. ADUs have been a current trending topic as an innovative housing option for many communities for a variety of reasons. This process was sparked by resident inquiry and direction from Council. We need your input as we explore this topic to gauge support for allowing these structures and their potential standards in the community. Please take the survey and learn more about accessory dwelling units by reviewing the fact sheet or additional sources using the links below! Paper copies of the survey and fact sheet can also be picked up at City Hall. For additional questions you may reach out to planning consultant Kendra Ellner (kendra@hkgi.com).
